Palawan, Philippines

Palawan, Philippines: I was in the Philippines for a short holiday. First a night in Manila then a short flight to El Nido on Palawan Island. This is area is dominated by limestone karsts set amidst tropical scenery. Coconut palms droop over sandy coves and turtles swim lazily by. Birds sing at dusk and dawn and the pace of life is leisurely to say the least. Being the start of the rainy season each day had a downpour, whole islands vanished behind curtains of rain only to reappear freshly cleansed. The density of the clouds plus the reflections from the water combining with the formations of the islands and the insect like shapes of the local boats made for a truly spectacular end to each day.
