No Work Bench Necessary

No work bench necessary for Vietnamese. All you need to be able to do is squat and then do all the work on the street. Whether it be repairing an exhaust or tinkering on an engine all manner of stuff is repaired and recycled. But I have a theory. The Vietnamese are excellent at recycling broken stuff, getting it back to working order however they are hopeless at maintaining anything. Therefore most work is destined for repeat business as whatever it is will need to be repaired again and again.

Loitering in District 4

It's another weekday in Saigon. Blokes avoiding work and young bucks lurking around pool halls instead of being at school. The Vietnamese have their own version of billiards called "billards". What's the difference? In billiards you score by canonning balls which is the same as the Vietnamese game except a local table has no pockets. I have had bets with travellers unaware of the lack of pockets and bet them that they won't get a ball in. It's not until they get to the table does the penny drop. However a bet's a bet and though they know they've been stooged it's all for a good cause - me.

Flower Power

The annual Tet, Vietnamese New Year flower show is on in one of the parks. Come along and marvel at the bonsai and get you lady to pose sniffing a flower or two. Not recommended for sufferers of hay fever.
